 Scientific Visualization: Issues, Challenges, Successes and Failures

Scientific visualization has been widely accepted as important corollary to computational scientific research for more than two decades. During this period there has been tremendous technical progress, as well as some stunning results. However, in many areas the field has not delivered on its promise. In this talk I will take a retrospective look at the application of visualization in several fields of science and discuss the successes, issues and challenges for the future.
