Scientific Visualization

Objective:

Familiarize and practice with tools focused on visualization and scientific data modeling.

General Overview:

Scientific visualization is part of scientific computing.  Its main objective is to represent information graphically primarily through computer simulations and scientific databases.  The data graphical representations help the user understand the phenomenon being studied in ways that were not possible before.  These types of chosen computer graphics to represent data depends on the nature of the data and the type of system it will be displayed.  This workshop will provide an introduction to scientific visualization, the technologies available for display (hard graphic devices, extended screens, video and virtual reality walls), techniques available to represent data and finally we will discuss certain tools available for scientific visualization, the case studies will be Gnuplot, ParaView and Xd3d.
